HAVS
Hand arm vibration syndrome covers a range of conditions that can be caused through the prolonged use of hand operated vibration equipment and power tools such as polishers grinders pneumatic drills etc. It can be the cause of significant ill health and lead to disorders of the blood vessels, nerves, joints and muscles of the hands and arms, including the condition often referred to as white finger. Screening to first and second tier levels to cover initial and annual surveillance using a questionnaire and visual examination can be provided and any findings would then be referred to a more specialised health professional.
