PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID
This course is a two day comprehensive first aid course aimed at people who work with children such as Nursery Nurses, Child minders and Nannies; it is suitable for those who require a work related certification / qualification and includes the content recommended by OFSTED.

- Management of a non breathing casualty
- Treatment of Choking
- Treatment of Wounds and Bleeding
- Treatment of Burns
- Treatment of fractures
- Dealing with poisoning
- Dealing with shock inc Anaphylaxis
- Recognition and management of sudden illness
- Infantile convulsions/Diabetes/epilepsy
- Sickle Cell /Asthma/meningitis
- Contents of first aid kits.
Certification
On Successful completion of all the course modules, candidates will receive a certificate of Paediatric First Aid, Valid for 3 years.
Paediatric first Aid is offered by ABC to OFSTED standard recommendations based on 2 days or the equivalent 12 contact hours, the course is aimed primarily at those who work with children and need a recognised certificate in order to be licensed to work. The course covers all aspects of first aid for children but also provides knowledge of sudden childhood illness and builds confidence in recognising these conditions. Paediatric first aid training can be delivered evenings and weekends or split over several weeks if required to accommodate business needs particularly with regard to nurseries where it can be difficult to release staff for two consecutive days. Employers and individuals seeking a Paediatric first aid service provider should always request a course syllabus to OFSTED guidelines and ask to see the instructors credentials and insurance as currently there is no licensing of instruction in this aspect of first aid.
