MANUAL HANDLING

The following courses provide general awareness for candidates who through the course of their work have to carry out lifting and handling of objects or people, clients can choose the most suitable course.

4-6 hours dependent on requirements.

MANUAL HANDLING OF PEOPLE

  • What is manual handling?

  • Factors relevant to moving a client:
  • Common unsafe moving and lifting techniques:
  • Practical:-
  • Moving a client forwards or backwards in chair
  • Assisting client to stand
  • Moving a client up the bed
  • Turning a client in bed
  • Correct use of handling belts
  • Moving a client with transfer boards
  • Using a hoist correctly (if appropriate)

On successful completion of all aspects of the course which will be continually assessed by the tutor, candidates will receive a certificate in manual handling of either objects or people valid for 3 years.
