EMERGENCY FIRST AID SPECIFIC HAZARD TRAINING HYDROFLUORIC ACID

There are a number of special hazards for which training in emergency procedures need to be more specific and where hydrofluoric Acid is kept and used on any premises; all first aiders should undergo this additional first aid training.

2 hour course

  • Introduction to hydrofluoric acid
  • The dangers of hydrofluoric acid burns
  • Storage, handling and hazard awareness
  • Physiological effect-skin-eyes-ingestion-inhalation
  • Aims of first aid treatment and methods of referral
  • Specific treatment including eye irrigation and use of specific antidotes
  • Record keeping and incident reporting

All participants will be continually assessed throughout the course and will be issued a certificate of attendance which is valid for 3 years.
